How can you not fall in love with a sleepy little city that used to be the capital of Japan and is now littered with deers and temples?
Tom and I went for a day-wonder around town. Once we found our way out from the station and shopping arcade, it didn't take long till we started to encounter these wild yet placid creatures. They hang out in plain sight and follow people around who purchase special biscuits to feed them. There's herds of them around designated spots ie: park, temple. I guess the biscuits must be good to keep them hanging about.

The deers antlers are warm and ferry.

The temples are located up the hills surrounded by beautiful greenery. Once off the main crowd-choked paths, navigating around the sights takes you through relaxing strolls around the parks and along little creeks. We even stumbled across a small 'village' set up where a couple was having a traditional wedding.

We went in search of a certain turtle pond that was reported to have hundreds of turtles crowded on logs and stacked on top of each other to get some sun. By the time we found this pond the rain started to drizzle down and 2 little turtles sat looking miserable. And on that note we ran back into town.
